Brocket has lived and worked in Madrid and Buenos Aires; it is her love of the 'Latino life’, which fuelled a long-term desire to see the real Cuba. The 'Cuban Pride’ exhibition was born from a commission that Harriet was thrilled to accept for Ritz Magazine in March 2007. The collection gathers images that reflect different aspects of this country, the people and their culture.

This collection of 32 first edition photographs have been shown at Floridita & La Casa del Habano, the No.1 Cuban venues in London and also at La Galleria Pall Mall, London and Harriet now has plans to take the exhibition abroad.

Harriet Brocket says: “In some respects being in Cuba is like being in a time warp – whilst much of the world becomes influenced by their bigger neighbour, the Cuban people cling to its separate culture, determined not to let go of it. Despite their circumstances, they are proud of their culture, of who they are and what they are – Cuba retains its identity because of its collective pride. I hope the exhibition provides an insight into the vibrancy of Cuban culture. I have always seen it as a colourful place which is why I photographed the images in colour.”
